Jake Hoot is an American country singer, songwriter, and guitarist from Cookeville, Tennessee. He’s known for the original song “Better Off Without You.” The Texas native competed and won season 17 of NBC’s The Voice. He was a member of Team Kelly Clarkson. Hoot is currently signed to Republic Records (Universal Music Group). His debut project is slated for 2020. In addition to music, Hoot is a former football player. His follow-up performances included “You Lie” (Reba McEntire ), “Every Light in the House” (Trace Adkins), and “That Ain’t My Truck” (Rhett Akins). For the live semifinals, Hoot honored his mom with a rendition of “Desperado” by Eagles. He also performed a duet “Up Where We Belong” with Marybeth Byrd.

For the live final, Hoot performed his original song “Better Off Without You.” The studio version of the song garnered the most streams across iTunes and Apple music. During the finals, Hoot also performed “Wintersong” alongside his coach Kelly Clarkson. His third performance was “Amazed” by Lonestar. Hoot was crowned as the winner of season 17 on December 17, 2019. The runner-ups were Ricky Duran (2nd) from Massachusetts, Katie Kadan (3rd) from Illinois, and Rose Short (4th) from Texas.
