Best Star Guardian Skins in League of Legends (All Ranked) FandomSpot

August 2024 · 12 minute read

Let’s be real: if you grew up on Sailor Moon, you’ve definitely dreamt about being a kawaii magical girl (or guy) before.

Personally, I waited day in day out for Luna to turn up at my door, and for my destiny to begin.

While our IRL Sailor Guardian days haven’t begun just yet, there is a way to experience the magical girl life in the meantime: by buying a Star Guardian skin.

Below, we’ve ranked all the Star Guardian skins from worst to best, based on how magical they’ll make you feel.

So, get your wands at the ready and let’s dive in.

20. Star Guardian Poppy

Released: October 5th, 2016
Price: 1350 RP

Star Guardian Poppy is basically a magical girl turned warrior, rocking a neat combo of sparkly frills and badass gold-plated armor.

Sadly, there’s one aspect of the skin I can’t get past: the face design.

They clearly tried to humanize Poppy and give her some kawaii anime facial features, but it just doesn’t work.

It actually makes her look kind of creepy.

If the face doesn’t bother you though, it’s still a good skin overall and the animations are solid.

Plus, it’s a good option for those after something a little more subtle with the anime theme.

19. Pajama Guardian Ezreal

Released: November 21st, 2018
Price: 1350 RP

Out of all the Pajama Guardian skins, Ezreal’s version is my least favorite.

The outfit doesn’t suit him whatsoever in my opinion, and it honestly looks like he’s been forced to wear it as a punishment (probably for playing with Lux’s heart).

And while the cat hoodie itself is neat, I feel like they should have given it some more kawaii oomph – it just feels too realistic for an anime-themed skin.

The fluffy ears are pretty awesome though, and the onesie does match his weapon.

18. Star Guardian Lulu

Released: October 5th, 2016
Price: 1350 RP

I’m not a fan of Star Guardian Lulu.

Yep, I don’t deny it’s cute and sparkly, but it just doesn’t work for me.

The reason?

It’s excessively bright, to the extent that I’ve found it actually distracts me from the game itself.

Sure, it won’t matter in normals, but in ranked solo/duo this OTT eye-candy is sure to hinder your chances of securing that victory screen.

The skin does have some redeeming points though.

Pix has received an utterly adorable makeover, and the weapon is the epitome of what a magical girl weapon should be.

Plus, her W is downright hilarious; it transforms her enemies into waddling green blobs.

17. Pajama Guardian Soraka

Released: November 21st, 2018
Price: 1350 RP

Right. I know the Pajama Guardian skins get a lot of hate, but I absolutely love them, purely for their comedic value.

This is especially true for Soraka: you bonk your enemies to death with bananas, all while dressed in a furry unicorn onesie.

The splash art is also adorable, and the in-game particle effects are super colorful.

16. Star Guardian Lux

Released: May 17th, 2015
Price: 1350 RP

Star Guardian Lux is chic, playful and packed with frills and cuteness.

Animations are adorable, and the sound effects really help you feel like a magical girl ready to live out your sparkly destiny.

My only complaint is that I would have liked a bit more texture in her outfit.

It does fall a little flat, especially when compared to a lot of the newer skins in the Star Guardian line.

15. Star Guardian Soraka

Released: September 6th, 2017
Price: 1350 RP

Star Guardian Soraka has a magical princess vibe, with long flowing hair and feathery wings.

The skin looks absolutely beautiful in game, and her staff has also been transformed into a kawaii magical wand.

Sadly, I do have a few nitpicks with this skin.

The particle effects are cute, but I find the Q and E animations a bit too undefined and actually quite hard to see.

I also wish Riot made her fly when her passive procs, just like she does in her homeguard animation.

That said, the Prestige edition upgrades the skin’s magical vibe by tenfold.

Stars are now laced throughout her hair, and her wand has received a rainbow makeover and scatters sparkles everywhere.

Plus, the new Q and E animations have fantastic visual clarity.

14. Star Guardian Ahri

Released: September 6th, 2017
Price: 1820 RP

Star Guardian Ahri honestly looks like the reincarnation of Sailor Moon, with magical yellow hair, a pink school girl outfit, and sparkles virtually everywhere.

Even the recall is a carbon copy of Sailor Moon’s iconic transformation scene, and you get a kawaii chibi fox companion to aid you in battle (Luna’s reincarnation, perhaps?).

Sadly, this skin is lacking one essential element: music with the dance emote.

Yep. They made a Star Guardian legendary skin without unique dance music.

It’s total blasphemy.

I also don’t like the feel of her auto-attack, though the other animations are flawless.

Oh, and the death animation will probably break your heart – it’s total Hachiko vibes.

13. Pajama Guardian Miss Fortune

Released: November 21st, 2018
Price: 1350 RP

Miss Fortune has given up the badass bounty life to follow her true calling: an otaku that spends hundreds of dollars daily on Sailor Moon merch, kawaii onesies, and sparkly accessories.

Jokes aside, Pajama Guardian Miss Fortunes is a simple but cute skin overall.

Of course, the main appeal isn’t the actual skin itself, it’s the pure comedy behind it.

It dresses Miss Fortune – one of the most badass champions in League – in a totally ridiculous, derpy outfit.

She even rocks a pair of oversized, fluffy slippers.

Slaughtering your enemies with this skin equipped is sure to leave them rage quitting left, right, and center.

12. Star Guardian Xayah

Released: September 12th, 2019
Price: 1820 RP

While the skin isn’t as colorful as others in the line, it’s still exceptionally captivating.

Xayah looks beautiful but deadly and the skin is packed with detail, from the homeguard animation that gives you a snazzy pair of wings, to the unique voice lines that immerse you in the Star Guardian universe.

Emotes are creative and fun to spam, and every ability feels ultra-smooth.

Plus, the recall reveals Xayah’s original, uncorrupted form, ultimately giving you two skins in one.

Sadly, you can’t swap between these forms throughout the game.

However, I’m not too disappointed about this, especially as it would take away from the skin’s lore.

Plus the skin does give you a little bird companion to cheer you up and keep you on top of your game.

11. Pajama Guardian Lux

Released: November 21st, 2018
Price: 1350 RP

Pajama Guardian Lux is cute, derpy, and packed with ribbons and stars.

You get to kamehameha your enemies’ health bars dressed in a bunny suit, and dodge skillshots in a pair of fluffy slippers.

The kawaii, sparkly animations complement this skin beautifully too.

Obviously, this skin is clearly a money grab.

But I’m not going to complain too much – Lux really suits the onesie look!

10. Star Guardian Janna

Released: October 5th, 2016
Price: 1350 RP

Star Guardian Janna is by far the most elegant magical girl out there, with a glamorous purple outfit and L’Oréal-worthy flowing hair.

Aside from looking totally fabulous, the animations are amazing and make for some great in-game moments; you can now harass your enemies with sparkly, spacey tornados and starry auto attacks.

The ultimate also feels so much more impactful, with a giant pulsating star in the center.

Oh, and the unicorn familiar is utterly adorable.

9. Pajama Guardian Lulu

Released: November 21st, 2018
Price: 1350 RP

If you’re the type to get tilted easily, this skin will honestly be a gamechanger.

It’s impossible to get tilted while playing with this skin. It’s just so darn cute!

Animations are sparkly, starry, and colorful, and the Pix-themed onesie is packed with adorable features – it even has a pair of small cuddly wings.

What really makes this skin the pinnacle of cuteness though is how the wings waddle whenever Lulu moves; it’s just so derpy you can’t help but fall in love.

8. Star Guardian Miss Fortune

Released: September 6th, 2017
Price: 1350 RP

Star Guardian Miss Fortune is absolutely divine.

It combines the sparkly appeal of Star Guardian with Miss Fortune’s kickass attitude.

Her guns have been given a magical glow up, and the recall goes full out with the anime aesthetic.

What makes this skin worthy of a top 10 spot though?

It has to be the ultimate.

You literally get two little chibi sidekicks helping you shoot down your enemy’s health bar.

The splash art is also the epitome of kawaii, with stars, anime vibes, and glitter everywhere.

7. Star Guardian Rakan

Released: September 12th, 2019
Price: 1820 RP

This skin honestly has the saddest lore ever, but it really shows off Rakan’s noble and helpless romantic character.

I won’t spoil it for those who aren’t familiar with the Star Guardian story, but Rakan basically sacrifices himself and everything he stands for for the sake of love, and man is it a tearjerker.

The skin is sure to leave your enemies in tears too; animations are smooth, concise, and brag great visual clarity, meaning engaging on your opponents has never been easier.

Plus he looks totally badass.

Well, as much as a feathery magical bird guy can look badass.

Just like Xayah, you can also see Rakan’s uncorrupted form in the recall.

Again, I wish you had the option to swap between the two forms, but it doesn’t bug me too much.

The skin also has lots of subtle touches which honor his “sexy and I know it” personality; he even flips his hair back just before he dies.

6. Star Guardian Jinx

Released: October 5th, 2016
Price: 1820 RP

Star Guardian Jinx is an insanely creative (and adorable) skin.

Her weapons are now the transformed forms of her magical pets, and the traps are pretty much chompin’ kitties.

Particle effects are smooth and offer great visual clarity, with the ultimate feeling so much more impactful.

Plus, the sound effects are clear and distinct, which is sure to help you fight with confidence even in the most hectic situations.

Oh, and you can’t forget the new, stellar voice lines, like “armed and dangerous – with sparkles.”

While I do absolutely love everything about this skin, I unfortunately can’t give it a higher ranking than this.

Protecting the universe with sparkles, love, and positivity is just too far from who Jinx is!

5. Star Guardian Ezreal

Released: September 6th, 2017
Price: 1350 RP

Star Guardian Ezreal truly looks like he came straight out of Voltron – aka the western version of Sailor Moon – and the actual skin feels amazing to play with in game.

It’s blessed with clean sound effects, slick animations, and an ultimate that makes you feel OP.

The outfit is brimming with detail, and the recall scene is absolutely mesmerizing.

Where this skin really burns bright (pun intended) however, is the emotes.

They’re utterly hilarious and spammable; in one, Ezreal even goofs around with a plushie of himself.

And to top it off?

He also hums along to some SG-themed tunes – even the Star Guardian champions themselves can’t resist Riot Game’s sweet beats.

4. Star Guardian Neeko

Released: September 12th, 2019
Price: 1350 RP

If you’re looking for bang for your buck, Star Guardian Neeko delivers on all fronts.

Aside from a magical glow up, you get new swanky animations, gamechanging sound effects, kawaii emotes, and one of the most adorable recalls to ever exist in the game.

Plus you even get a froggy companion that fights by your side, and the ultimate animation is sure to tilt your enemies; you literally wrap them in bows as if they’re gifts for your fed ADC.

The Prestige Edition of this skin also levels up the cuteness by tenfold.

We’re talking butterfly wings, frills, and a whole lot of extra sparkles and stars.

3. Star Guardian Syndra

Released: September 6th, 2017
Price: 1350 RP

Syndra was clearly destined to be a magical girl; the frills, sparkles, and OTT anime outfit suit her perfectly.

What really sets her apart from the other skins in the line though are her spheres.

They are honestly the cutest things to ever grace the Rift (move over Yuumi).

They have basically been transformed into mystical black holes with little “uwu” faces and cat ears.

The only downside of the skin?

Throwing the kitty spheres at your enemies actually makes you feel guilty.

I mean, you’re literally killing kittens.

2. Star Guardian Zoe

Released: September 12th, 2019
Price: 1350 RP

Zoe might be the definition of a bubbly, playful, Disney-like character, but she does have a mischievous side, and this skin honors that side to the extreme, transforming her into a sparkly villain hellbent on wrecking the optimism of her enemies.

You can see the corruption course throughout her body, and her homeguard animation is seriously eerie, with demon hands following her every move.

Plus, she has a little devil companion to aid her in her battle against good.

Oh, and the new voice filter makes her sound totally sinister – perfect for her good girl gone bad aesthetic.

1. Pajama Guardian Cosplay Urgot

Released: April 1st, 2020
Price: 1350 RP

Okay. I can’t not put this skin at the number 1 spot.

The League community fought so hard, so valiantly, and so desperately for this to become a thing.

For many years, LoL players around the world set up petitions, created fan art, and begged Riot on their hands and knees.

And in 2020, Riot Games finally caved in and delivered what we’d all been praying for: Star Guardian Urgot in the 2D flesh.

Aside from being the biggest win of the LoL community in history, the skin itself is absolutely amazing.

It essentially transforms Urgot – yup, the most badass, gruff guy out there – into a kawaii magical girl.

Animations are smooth, cute, and bursting with anime inspiration.

Then to top it all off, his ultimate is now a giant ribbon that pulls his enemies into a stomach made up of cat plushies.

Yep. I honestly wouldn’t mind being slaughtered by Urgot if that’s how I die.
