A 12-year-old girl was tragically killed by gunshots in her home in Lake City, Florida. The police have now arrested a 14-year-old boy who is believed to be responsible for her murder.

The incident happened around 9 p.m. on a Thursday while the girl was sitting on a couch at her house on Northwest Long Street. Despite efforts by officers and paramedics, she couldn’t be saved and passed away at home.

After the shooting, the Lake City Police Department began investigating and following various leads. They eventually identified a 14-year-old named Jatarious Rashad Fluellen as a suspect. He was taken into custody on Monday and charged with murder, along with two counts of attempted murder.

More arrests are expected as the investigation continues, with assistance from the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office and FDLE.

The scene of the incident showed bullet holes and broken glass. A family member shared that the 12-year-old was a sixth-grader who always had a smile on her face and loved dancing. The home, now marked with evidence markers from the bullets, has been marred by this tragic event.
